NAMI Independent Living

What We Offer

In-home support, designed around the person.

Every individual we work with brings their own goals, routines, and family context. Our services flex to fit, in the home and in the community where life actually happens.

NAMI Independent Living supports adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We work alongside families, support coordinators, and other providers to make sure care is well-coordinated and steady over time.

What follows is a starting point. The right mix of services for any one person is something we figure out together.

Daily Living

Companion Care

Trusted, friendly support in the home. Help with routines, errands, meals, transportation, and the quiet companionship that makes a day feel steady. Our caregivers are matched thoughtfully and show up consistently.

Skill Building

Goal-based work on the practical skills that open up independent life: communication, self-care, money handling, cooking, using transportation, navigating appointments. Plans are individualized and built in collaboration with the person and their family.

Respite Support

Family caregiving is rewarding and exhausting. Respite gives parents and family caregivers a reliable break, with a trained, trusted person stepping in so you can rest, work, or just take time for yourself.

Who We Serve

Adults

Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who want to live as independently as possible, with support that respects their pace and choices.

Who We Serve

Children and Youth

Children and young people with developmental disabilities, working alongside families and schools to build skills, confidence, and connection.

We work with families using a range of Virginia waivers (including the DD, Community Living, and Family and Individual Supports waivers) as well as private-pay arrangements. If you are unsure what applies to your situation, we can help you figure it out.

How It Works

Getting started is simple.

01

Reach out

Send a message or give us a call. We will listen first, no pressure.

02

Initial conversation

We learn about the person, the family, and what kind of support would help.

03

Personalized care plan

Together we build a plan around real goals, routines, and preferences.

04

Ongoing support

Care begins, and we adjust as life and goals evolve over time.

Next Step

Start with a conversation.

We'd love to hear about the person you're caring for and how we might help.
