You are your child’s strongest advocate, and you deserve to feel powerful and prepared. At NAMI Independent Living, we help families fully understand their child’s IEP so they can take an active, informed role in shaping their education.

We carefully assess the IEP and provide clear explanations of goals, supports, and areas that need improvement. Although we do not attend the meeting with you, we make sure you are ready by giving you:

• A parent-friendly checklist to guide the meeting

• Questions to ask and points to bring up

• Recommendations based on your child’s needs

• Encouragement and knowledge of your rights as a parent

This service is all about empowering you—because when parents understand the IEP, they can advocate with confidence and ensure their child gets the support they truly need.

IEP Consultation – Parents can send us their child’s current IEP or draft. We carefully review and analyze it, create a clear summary package, and then go over everything with you in a one-hour virtual meeting.
